Metal Church - Red Skies (1981) [EP]

Cool instrumental demo.  Rough but righteous production.  The first and third tracks are unreleased material, the first song ("Red Skies") being a decent heavy melodic debut for the band.  The third ("Heads Will Roll") is an awesome glimpse into the past where punk meets heavy metal, with headbanging turns into both territories.  I can see how they didn't use this one on the first LP considering David Wayne's vocal style, but who knows what could have happened.  And then we have Merciless Onslaught, which is a classic instrumental by now.  If only instrumentally, this is also a document of thrash in its fetal stages, where Metal Church takes the sound of Judas Priest and somehow beefs it up.

What's this?
