This is black metal the way it is supposed to be. It's Raw, it's
brilliantly composed, it has great and varied vocals, its everything I
look for in a black metal release. Even though it is a split, it has a
very unified feel, the two bands complement eachother very well.
Horna has vocals ranging from high pitched screams to a low growl, but not the death metal type low growl you'd expect when I say that. There are bits that sound like the average black metal band, but there are also some innovative parts which keep you listening to the record and not picking up a book or something.
Sacrificia Mortuorum has a somewhat similar style to the Horna part, but it's not a copy of it anywhere, it clearly has it's own identity. The growls are very high pitched, they shriek through the music like an arrow tearing through the skin of a christian.
Overall this split is a very solid release which should not be missing in the collection of any black metal fan.
